Egypt and Azerbaijan sign 5 cooperation documents in ports to strengthen trade partnership

The activities of the fifth meeting of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation were held today, Friday, in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by Dr. Rania Al-Ali. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, emphasized the results of the discussions during the activities of the fifth session of the joint committee and the importance of the signed protocols in various fields, noting that moving forward with implementing the signed protocols. The documents and continuous coordination between the two sides will bring the mutual to a wider field to promote the development of both countries.

The Minister of International Cooperation noted the importance of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations that have been going on for decades, and the joint committee that represents the framework of economic, scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries to develop joint relations and advance development efforts, noting that the committee had in previous sessions contributed to strengthening joint cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Many fields such as commerce, industry, investment, agriculture, civil aviation and culture.
Al-Mashat added that this is her second visit to Baku, and that these joint visits and joint committees are evidence of the development of cooperation between the two sides and the huge opportunities based on the capabilities and competitive advantages of both countries.

The Azerbaijani Minister of Transport said that the protocol of the fifth session of the joint committee reflects the excellent relationship and mutual cooperation between the two parties, noting that many potential areas of cooperation may appear in the coming period, such as digital development and technologies that can implement many cooperation frameworks, and with regard to the huge cultural heritage between The parties, the various areas of economic cooperation.

The Azerbaijani Minister of Transport expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations and the results of the fifth session of the joint committee, noting that his country is keen on the participation of the Azerbaijani private sector in development projects in Egypt, given that Egypt is developmental. He stressed that the Azerbaijani side will enhance communication with the Egyptian government in the coming period to enhance the framework of cooperation, open work fields for companies in the private sector, and exchange information on available cooperation and investment opportunities. In the same context, the minister stressed the Egyptian government’s keenness to attract private sector investments, especially in major national projects and new cities.

The agenda of the fifth session of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee included discussions on economic, scientific and technological cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Azerbaijan, focusing on specific areas, as well as the country’s needs and priorities. The Egyptian side aims to maximize the interests of both parties such as: investment, trade and industry, health, pharmaceutical industry, electricity and energy, renewable energy, oil, mineral wealth, higher education, scientific research, culture, youth, sports, tourism, antiquities, communications, information technology, agriculture and transportation, As well as cooperation between the free economic zones in the two countries.

From February 23 to 24, a preparatory meeting was held at the expert level. The Egyptian delegation included representatives of the following ministries and bodies: the Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Population, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Land Reclamation, Electricity, and Renewable Energy. Tourism, antiquities, higher education, scientific research, the General Administration for Investment and Free Zones, and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.

It is scheduled that within the activities of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani joint committee, the Egyptian-Azerbaijani business forum will be held, in the presence of about 24 businessmen and representatives of the private sector from Egypt, and representatives of Azeri companies, to discuss all possible ways to increase economic cooperation between the two countries.
