Planning announces the opening of the door to apply for a new batch of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative for Arab youth

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the opening of the door to applying for a new batch of the “Be an Ambassador” initiative for sustainable development, directed to all Arab youth in Egypt and the member states of the League of Arab States, “The Arab Youth Batch”; From today until February 28, 2022.

Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that opening the door to progress for all Arab youth in the “Be an Ambassador” initiative comes with the aim of strengthening cooperation, exchanging experiences, and sharing opportunities and challenges facing young people in different Arab countries.

Al-Saeed stressed that the initiative aims to increase youth awareness of spreading a culture of sustainable development, noting the importance of adopting the peer-to-peer learning method; That is, communicating information from youth to youth, explaining the interest of the Egyptian government in general and the Ministry of Planning in particular in the topics and applications of sustainable development; Egypt was one of the first countries to jointly launch its vision for sustainable development, “Egypt Vision 2030” in 2016.

For her part, Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, explained that the “Be an Ambassador” initiative is one of the most important initiatives launched by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the Institute, noting that about 1,100 young people have been trained so far, explaining that the conditions for joining the Arab youth batch The initiative includes that the age between 18-35 years for any of the Egyptian youth or those who hold the nationality of any Arab country of both sexes, proficiency in the Arabic and English languages, preferably those who participated in volunteer work, have a background in sustainable development, and have leadership skills.

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development – the training arm of the ministry – launched the “Be an Ambassador” initiative for sustainable development at the end of 2020 with the aim of spreading a culture of sustainable development among young people from 18 to 35 years old, through a number of training levels. .

It is noteworthy that the initiative consists of three levels: the qualifying level, which is the study of some soft skills topics on the “Estidama” platform of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and then the advanced level, in which a number of specialized lectures on the seventeen sustainable development goals are attended on the virtual platform and discussion with The lecturers are specialized experts and former ministers, after which the transition to the professional level is TOT so that young people can transfer their experiences gained during training in the field of sustainable development to the community. The initiative also provides an opportunity to adopt innovative and creative ideas from young people in the business incubator of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
